The Southwest Minnesota Area Skywarn group covers Murray , Nobles, Pipestone, Cottonwood counties.  Our primary Skywarn frequency is 147.150 - Output, Tone is 141.3 repeater in Tracy, Minnesota. The web page will be for anything Skywarn related from informational to presentations and more.  If you have information that you would like to include here, please send to Murray County ARES EC.

What to report and what not to report.


The national weather service requests reports of the following:  
  •  Hail of Any Size (Diameter specified in inches)
  •  Measured or Estimated Thunderstorm Winds of 30+ MPH
  •  Funnel Clouds
  •  Wall Clouds (Specify rotating or non-rotating)
  •  Tornadoes
  •  Thunderstorm-related Damage
  •  Downed Tree Limbs(Size? Alive/Dead?)
  •  Flooding
  •  Anything else which may be life-threatening
We request you do NOT report the following:  
  •  General Rainfall
  •  Lightning
  •  General Thunderstorm Conditions
  •  Sky Conditions
  •  Thunder
  •  Tornado Sirens Going Off
When reporting any of the above, please call in your report with TEL (Time-Event-Location). Please use location relative to the nearest town such as: "3/4 inch hail at 1937 hours 2 miles north of Slayton on US-59". If you are in a town, specify that you are in that town. If in a larger town or City, please specify what side of town ie "Northwest Side Slayton" . Cross streets are helpful if you can provide those as well.
