Minnesota District 5 ARES    

Welcome to the Official Website for the Minnesota District 5 ARES. All ARES districts in Minnesota conform to all Minnesota Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management regions. The 18 District 5 counties are: Brown, Chippewa, Cottonwood, Jackson, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Martin, McLeod, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville, Rock, Sibley, Watonwan, and Yellow Medicine.

Aside from providing emergency communications to each county, District 5 also works on special projects. We are currently working with the Southwest Emergency Preparedness Team (SWEPT) to provide expertise and personnel in their effort to equip 24 hospitals and 43 primary care clinics in their 16-county region with ham capabilities. We will also be installing D-Star-compatible VHF/UHF radios, as well as HF capabilities, in each of HSEM Region 5’s two communications trucks.

There are also traditional projects, and we’re proud to work with the Southwest Minnesota Chapter of the American Red Cross in Worthington, which covers Martin, Nobles, Rock, Pipestone, and Murray counties.
